Due to the COVID-19 situation, we had to cancel our end of survey event. So, we conducted the prize draw online, using the system that we have in place for the SinkorWin lottery.
Four prizes were drawn. Ali Adams was the lucky winner of the first prize of a voucher for £40. Steve Dawson won the £30 second prize and very kindly donated it back to Copmanthorpe Community Pool. Gail Blackburn-Barker won the £20 voucher as a third prize, and Rebecca Davies won the £10 third prize. Congratulations to all these lucky winners.

Brief update: we are currently busy writing and submitting grant applications, using the information from the survey. We are also working on turanabol the lease, and other legal issues that will need to be resolved before any work can start. We had lots of volunteers from the survey, and we will be contacting people to ask for their help, as needed. We are considering running an online quiz to raise funds. The WI are holding a Shrove Tuesday, pate and pancake lunch to raise funds for Sink or Swim. This will be on Tuesday 25th February, from 12 to 2pm, at the WI hall. Tickets are £5 and can be purchased at the door.
A reminder that this week, we are holding two focus groups to gain feedback to support our funding applications. These focus groups will help to design a survey, as well as providing feedback. Please attend the groups, and complete the survey when it is available. The focus groups are this Friday and Saturday – Friday 7th February, from 4 to 5.30pm, and Saturday 8th February, from 10 to 11.30am, at the Methodist Church Hall. If you can let us know if you are coming (and would like food), it will help with catering, but you can just turn up too. Everyone welcome, including children.

Congratulations to all these winners. We have now been running the lottery for a full year and it has contributed significantly to our funds. As a brief update, at our last two meetings, we gained several new members and we set up subgroups for writing grant applications, conducting a survey of the village, and dealing with legal and contract details. The first meetings of these subgroups are due to take place this month and progress reports will follow soon after.

Last night the new expanded team met at the Methodist Church hall. We agreed subgroups of people to work on the lease and legal issues, and grant writing, as well as discussing a Focus Group and Community Survey to support our grant applications.
We decided that there will be a bonus prize of £100 in the December draw of our Sink or Win Lottery. Tickets will be on sale at the St Giles Christmas Fair, at the St Giles Church, this Saturday (30th November), from 10am to 3pm. We will also be collecting pledges for financial support, and for local tradespeople willing to quote for building work.
Finally, we discussed the plans for the pool, with more ideas on the layout and facilities, and whether to do the work in two stages or one. There were lots of suggestions for sources of funding too.

It is a busy time of year, but we are working hard on negotiating a lease for the land for the pool, and preparing our first large grant applications, as well as preparing for more fundraising events, such as the Christmas Fayre.
We have gained some helpers, who have experience of applying for large grants, which should help the process. And we are lucky to have support from the WI, who are able to help with ideas and grant applications. We will post more details of upcoming events soon. Thank you.
