Please Pledge by email to with your pledge amount

As you may know, the future of the pool project is in doubt because the School Governors have decided to withdraw their support. We are meeting with representatives of the Governors on 22nd March to discuss their concerns and to attempt to reverse their decision.

So far, with your support, Copmanthorpe Sink or Swim has raised over £6,000, and you have pledged over £1,450, towards a current estimated cost of £500K. We realise this is a large sum to raise, and we hope that much of it will come from grants once the funders are open to applications from non-COVID-related projects. We are also investigating ways of reducing costs by, for example, seeking in-kind donations for building materials.

We need to demonstrate the strength of local support. So, we are collecting Pledges for future donations to the pool. Pledges will only be collected if the Project does continue, at which time we’ll be in touch to check the amount and explain how to make your donation. This isn’t likely to happen until after all the COVID-19 restrictions have ended. If you are considering making a contribution to the pool, please do it now before it is too late.

The Copmanthorpe community came together to get the pool built. We need to do so again to stop it from being lost. Thank you.

The latest lottery has been drawn and the first prize was won by ticket number M43. Second prize went to ticket number 74, and third prize went to ticket number 177. Congratulations to the winners, and thank you for continuing to support us.

Prize draw winners and brief update

Due to the COVID-19 situation, we had to cancel our end of survey event. So, we conducted the prize draw online, using the system that we have in place for the SinkorWin lottery.

Four prizes were drawn. Ali Adams was the lucky winner of the first prize of a voucher for £40. Steve Dawson won the £30 second prize and very kindly donated it back to Copmanthorpe Community Pool. Gail Blackburn-Barker won the £20 voucher as a third prize, and Rebecca Davies won the £10 third prize. Congratulations to all these lucky winners.

The March and April lottery draws have been made, and the winners notified. The winning numbers for March were 212, 204 and 104. The winning numbers for April were 92, 189 and 62. Thank you all for your continued support.

Brief update: we are currently busy writing and submitting grant applications, using the information from the survey. We are also working on the lease, and other legal issues that will need to be resolved before any work can start. We had lots of volunteers from the survey, and we will be contacting people to ask for their help, as needed. We are considering running an online quiz to raise funds. If anyone would like to help, please do let us know. Thank you.

Please remember to complete our survey

We have a good number of responses, but we need more – please could everyone complete the survey, if you haven’t already done so. Every person in the household can complete the survey. We particularly need responses from retired people and young adults.

The prize draw event will no longer take place, but there is still the opportunity to win a prize. We hope you are all staying safe and well. Thank you for your support.

Please complete our survey

We have had lots of responses so far, but we need more. The survey can be completed by everyone – not just one person per household, so please encourage partners, children, parents and grandparents to complete it. Everyone who completes the survey will have the chance to enter a prize draw.

The pool will be open to everyone, and we hope to have activities for people who are retired, as well as parents, working people, people with disabilities, and children. There will also be the opportunity for private hire, if you prefer to swim only with close friends or family.

You may see us out and about with the surveys over the coming weeks, as we try to meet our quota! Thank you for your continuing support.

February Lottery winners

Congratulations to the winners of the February draw. Ticket number 173 won first prize. Ticket number 155 won the second prize, and ticket number 64 won the third prize. Congratulations and thank you all for your continuing support.
